What does head mean in the bible

What is the anointing? What does it mean to be anointed?

The original anointing goes back to the shepherds. Lice and other insects often settled in the sheep's fur, and if they got near the sheep's head they could crawl into the animal's ear canal, which could kill the sheep. This is why the shepherds used to pour oil on the head of the sheep. This made the wool slippery, making it virtually impossible for insects to get to the animal's ears because the insects would slip off. This gave rise to the symbolic meaning of anointing (or unction) for blessing, protection and strengthening.

The Greek words for "anoint" in the New Testament are chriowhich means "to smear or rub with oil" and figuratively "consecrate or bless for an office or religious service"; and aleiphowhich means "anoint". In biblical times, people were anointed with oil to highlight God's blessings or to pray for that person's life (Exodus 29: 7; 40: 9; 2 Kings 9: 6; Ecclesiastes 9: 8; James 5:14 ). A person has been anointed for a specific purpose - to be a king, a prophet, a builder, etc. There is nothing wrong with anointing someone with oil today. We just need to make sure that the purpose of the anointing is in accordance with the scriptures. The anointing should not be viewed as a "magic potion". The oil itself has no power. It is God alone who can anoint or consecrate someone for a specific purpose. When we use oil for this, it's just a symbol of what God is doing.

Another meaning of the word Anointed one is "chosen one". The Bible says that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit by God to spread the good news and to deliver those imprisoned by sin (Luke 4: 18-19; Acts 10:38). After Christ left the earth, He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16). With it all Christians are anointed, chosen for a specific purpose to proclaim the Kingdom of God (1 John 2:20). “But it is God who makes us firm with you in Christ and anointed and sealed us and gave the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge” (2 Corinthians 1: 21-22).
