Why does the sun light up our hair

Lighten hair naturally: 5 tricks for a sun-kissed mane

Anyone who has just returned from their beach vacation can usually look forward to many compliments at work: a tenderly tanned complexion, freckles and a sun-kissed mane that will make you envious.

The next trip is still a long way off? No problem, we'll show you five DIY tricks for light hair that looks like it's fresh from the beach.

# 1: Lighter hair thanks to lemon

Do you currently have dark blonde or light brown hair? Then you can easily lighten it with a little lemon. Lemon juice has a natural, lightening effect and gives our mane the perfect summer look with little effort.

Squeeze out about 7-8 lemons and dilute the juice with 100 ml of water. Apply the mixture to your damp hair and leave it on until your hair is dry. This trick works particularly well if you let your hair dry in the sun, which further enhances the lightening effect. Then you can wash your hair as usual.

Instead of fresh lemons, you can also use vitamin C tablets. To do this, crush 10 tablets, mix the powder with your conditioner or a hair treatment and let it work for 15 minutes.

You can find vitamin capsules for around 4 euros here on Amazon.

# 2: lighten hair with chamomile tea

Your hair is too strained for real bleaching? Then you can try the gentle whitening trick with chamomile tea. Chamomile is particularly mild on our hair and scalp.

To do this, boil 700 ml of water and brew about 7 chamomile tea bags in it. When the tea has reached a comfortable, lukewarm temperature, massage it gently into your hair. Finally, you can comb your hair so that the tea is optimally distributed in the hair. Washing out is not necessary with this method.

Great: The lightening effect is not as strong as with other methods. But the chamomile tea makes your hair shine beautifully.

# 3: honey for lighter hair

This popular beauty all-rounder also made it into the top 5 for naturally lighter hair: honey. The flower nectar not only makes our hair a shade lighter, it also makes it nice and supple.

The easiest way to do the honey trick is to mix two scoops with your conditioner. You can also increase the effect by massaging the honey into your hair together with a hair mask and leaving the care pack on overnight. This works, for example, with a hood or foil that you wrap around your hair.

# 4: Baking soda for lightening and preventing yellowing

You can also conjure up darker hair a little lighter in a natural way. This works well with baking powder, for example. Great side effect: The powder should also counteract a yellow or red cast.

Simply dissolve 2 packets of baking powder in 250 ml of water and gently massage the thick mixture into your hair. After about 20 minutes of exposure, you can wash your hair thoroughly.

# 5: Beach blonde with salt water

You can also bring back the beach look with homemade salt water. Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt to 250 ml of warm water and stir until the salt dissolves. Then rinse your hair with the salt water and leave it on for about an hour. Finally, simply rinse the hair with clear water.

Your hair is not light enough after the first salt water treatment? Then you can just repeat this process.

Important: But don't forget that salt water can take a toll on your hair and dry it out. So afterwards care for your hair with a moisturizer or a nourishing hair mask.
