In some cases you can get an advance on your salary from your employer, for example if it is foreseeable that a large number of overtime has to be worked due to a good order situation. But how is the money paid out as an advance, and what must be taken into account?

How to get money from your employer as an advance

The advance payment only makes sense if you can actually do the extra work that is necessary for it. This is rarely possible for employees with families in particular. But if you are not bound and the planned overtime is not a problem for you, the cash advance can certainly provide a certain financial freedom.

Another possibility of receiving an advance payment is the early payment of the 13th or 14th monthly salary, which can be paid out, for example, as a total amount or calculated over the individual months. The decision as to whether or not you receive an advance salary is ultimately always made by the employer.

Guidelines for the advance payment

There are certain guidelines that must be followed when receiving advances. For example, there are certain circumstances in which you can apply for an advance, such as unforeseeable expenses that are of particular urgency. This includes costs that arise in the context of a death in the family or are required to care for relatives.

An advance from the employer is also possible in the event of a divorce and the associated expense (e.g. for the apartment deposit). In total, a maximum of 2560 euros or three monthly payments are possible per year. Other reasons that lead to the payment of cash advances are the initial purchase of a vehicle if it is needed for the exercise of the activity, or the procurement of household items if the insurance does not pay for a damage.
