Set up Apple Pay

First, add your credit, debit, or prepaid card to your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac.

If you want to use Apple Pay on more than one device, you'll need to add your card on each device. First select your device below. After you've set up Apple Pay on your iPhone or Apple Watch, you can use Safari to manage your cards3 use the internet on some Mac models while signed in to iCloud. You can add up to twelve cards per device on the following devices: Apple Watch Series 3 and later, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus and later. Older models support up to eight cards per device.

Your Apple Card4 will be automatically added to Wallet and the Safari Auto-Complete feature on the device on which you applied for the Apple Card. You can also add the Apple Card to your iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac models with Touch ID.

In the US, you can also use Apple Pay to send and receive money to friends and family and use Apple Cash on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.You can also make payments to participating stores in the business chat on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

In some countries and regions, you can also add loyalty cards, boarding passes, movie tickets, coupons, bonus cards and student IDs to Wallet. Get help adding your card to Wallet here.

Add a map on iPhone

  1. Go to Wallet and tap the.
  2. Follow the steps to add a new card. Check out the instructions in the video. If you're asked to add the card used with your Apple ID, cards on other devices, or cards you recently removed, select them and enter their security codes. You may need to download an app from your bank or card issuer to add a card to Wallet. In mainland China, you may need to create a six-digit code or update your existing code accordingly.
  3. Tap on "Next". Your bank or card issuer will review your details and then decide whether you can use your card with Apple Pay. If your bank or card issuer needs further information to verify your card, you will receive a request from the bank or card issuer. When you have this information, go back to Wallet and tap your card.
  4. After your card has been verified by your bank or card issuer, tap "Continue". You can then use Apple Pay.

Add a card on the iPad

  1. Go to Settings> Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap "Add Card".6
  3. Follow the steps to add a new card. If you're asked to add the card used with your Apple ID, cards on other devices, or cards you recently removed, select them and enter their security codes.
  4. Tap on "Next". Your bank or card issuer will review your details and then decide whether you can use your card with Apple Pay. If your bank or card issuer needs further information to verify your card, you will receive a request from the bank or card issuer. Once you have this information, go back to Settings> Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card.
  5. After your card has been verified by your bank or card issuer, tap "Continue". You can then use Apple Pay.

Add a card on your Apple Watch

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on the iPhone and select the My Watch tab. If you have multiple watch devices, select one.
  2. Tap "Wallet & Apple Pay".
  3. Follow the steps to add a card.6 Tap "Add Card" to add a new card. If you're asked to add the card used with your Apple ID, cards on other devices, or cards you recently removed, select them and enter their security codes. In mainland China, you may need to create a six-digit code or update your existing code accordingly.
  4. Tap on "Next". Your bank or card issuer will review your details and then decide whether you can use your card with Apple Pay. If your bank or card issuer needs further information to verify your card, you will receive a request from the bank or card issuer. Once you have this information, go back to Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card.
  5. After your card has been verified by your bank or card issuer, tap "Continue". You can then use Apple Pay.

Add a card on the Mac

To add a card to Apple Pay, you need a Mac model with Touch ID. If you have a Mac model without Touch ID, you can use Apple Pay to complete the purchase on your qualifying iPhone or Apple Watch. To do this, go to Settings> Wallet & Apple Pay on your iPhone and turn on Allow Payments on Mac.

To add a card to your Mac model with Touch ID, do the following:

  1. On your Mac model with Touch ID, choose System Preferences> Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap "Add Card".3, 6
  3. Follow the steps to add a new card. When asked to add the card used with your Apple ID, just enter the associated security code.
  4. Tap on "Next". Your bank or card issuer will review your details and then decide whether your card can be added to Apple Pay. If your bank or card issuer needs further information to verify your card, you will receive a request from the bank or card issuer. When you have this information, go back to System Preferences> Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card.
  5. After your card has been verified by your bank or card issuer, tap "Continue". You can then use Apple Pay.

Person-to-person payments using Apple Pay and Apple Cash are not available in macOS.

After you've added your cards on each device, Apple Pay is available to you:

  1. Don't forget to sign in to iCloud on all of your devices. You need to set up Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode on your iOS device. You need to set up a passcode on the Apple Watch. If you sign out of iCloud or remove your code, all credit, debit, prepaid, and public transport cards and student ID cards will be removed from this device.
  2. If you're under 13, Apple Pay isn't available and you can't add a card to the Wallet app. Age limits may vary depending on the country or region.
  3. In mainland China, you can only use Apple Pay on compatible iPhone and iPad models with iOS 11.2 or later on the web with Safari. In the Netherlands, you can only use Apple Pay with Safari on the web on compatible iPhone and iPad models.
  4. The Apple Card is issued by the Goldman Sachs bank (USA, Salt Lake City branch). The Apple Card is only available in the United States.
  5. Sending and receiving payments with Apple Pay and the Apple Cash card are services provided by Green Dot Bank, a member of the FDIC. Apple Cash is only available in the US. If you are under 18, your family organizer can set up Apple Cash for you as part of the Apple Cash Family. Then you can use Apple Pay to send and receive money.   6. In Italy, Maestro cards cannot be added to the iPad or Mac. In Australia, you cannot add eftpos cards to your iPad or Mac models with Touch ID. In the Netherlands, you can add Maestro cards on all compatible devices except Mac computers.
  7. In Japan, you can also add Suica or PASMO cards to Apple Pay. In mainland China, you can add public transportation cards to Apple Pay. Find out which iPhone and Apple Watch models can be used with Suica or PASMO in Japan and public transport in mainland China.
