Visualize potential paths and analyze results
Build your decision tree with Lucidchart and highlight potential pathways to better understand and visualize decisions. Use data links to seamlessly import your records from a CSV file, Excel spreadsheet, or Google Spreadsheet, then calculate the likelihood of each outcome by applying relevant formulas directly in Lucidchart. Thanks to clear graphics and quantifiable conclusions, you can weigh up decisions quickly and precisely.
Collaborate with decision makers
Involve the most important stakeholders in the decision-making process through real-time collaboration - from anywhere and at any time. Your team can add comments to fill in any gaps in the thought process or to provide opinions on the best decision.
Present and share
Lucidchart enables cross-platform approval and publication of your work in seconds. Send your decision tree to individual email addresses, generate a link to share on your website, or download your diagram. Share your work with custom permissions to prevent unwanted changes or send it through your favorite applications like G Suite, Confluence, and Slack. Lucidchart runs consistently on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems, so you don't have to worry about your work being affected.
How to create a decision tree with our software
Start a new decision tree
Drag a rectangle shape on the left edge of the canvas and enter the basic idea or question that requires a decision.
Add nodes as results
Use circular shapes to add nodes with names of possible outcomes. Add as many options as you want, but at least two.
Insert lines as results with estimated value
Connect your main idea to the primary nodes and the nodes after that using lines. You can add specific values and estimates to these lines that indicate how large the impact of certain outcomes could be.
Complete the decision tree and calculate values
Once each question is linked to a possible event, add a triangle at the end of the diagram as the result. Estimate the likelihood of each outcome and use the node and branch values to calculate the final values.
Review and use tree or publish and share
Use real-time collaboration to get feedback from your team, or publish the diagram using the easy sharing capabilities of Lucidchart.
