Are Webinars Effective for Selling Courses Online?
Create and offer online courses - how?
Offer online training - some tips.
Do you run from appointment to appointment? Or do you travel around for trainings and lectures? Do people come to you for coaching or training? Is there a lot of "dead time" between appointments?
It doesn't work like that in the long term
I experienced that myself - and fortunately changed.
If external circumstances are not ideal - if the children are sick - stress arises. You are "yourself" and "constantly". You built yourself a job, not a company. The pandemic clearly shows the problem.
The coaching problem
As long as your earnings are tied to your time, your model won't work if you're short on time. Time = money = stress, always.
Fortunately there are better models.
It can positive reasons be. Maybe you want to cycle around the world for 8 months. Maybe you want to get involved in a heart project. This is about the necessary basis.
If your offer is limited to your region, you have additional challenges. You have to keep bringing "new people" into your practice or classroom. The region does not produce an unlimited amount.
So are one 2 pointsthat you should question:
- local dependency (your presence on a specific place)
- time dependency (your presence to a certain time)
Release local dependency
The local dependency is easy to solve. Video conferencing and webinar tools make this easy. In this way you break out of your regional barriers, save yourself and your customers a lot of trips.
We use zoom for individual or group calls and WebinarJam for webinars. (See our tool list for almost all of the tools we use)
This is a good first step.
Something positive: many have reduced their skepticism towards online offers. You can see that it has advantages, that closeness is still there and that it is fun. zoom you know now.
What remains: you are still “present”. You have to be there “live” - so you still have the time dependency.
Solve time dependency
If you already have experience with online training, you probably want to break your time dependency as well. So that you too can travel and not only "burn" money.
For this you need your own digital products. You package your live training in a sellable online product. This can be a challenge - for example a 14-day challenge with accompanying e-mails, video lessons and work material. That can be a small product for 49.00 to a more in-depth online course for up to 8000.00 or more.
Prices for online seminars
Mostly, pure digital products without support are priced at a maximum of CHF 2,000. With higher-priced offers one expects individual care - which is OK and fun. You are no longer paid for individual lessons, but for the entire package.
There are mixed options - you don't have to switch completely.
We have customers with combined offers of up to CHF 40,000. But many offer online courses for a few hundred euros. Our own funnel boot camp is one four-month, close support and costs a low four-digit sum. By the way, it's worth it for you too 😉
The term “passive income” is often used in this context. As you can guess, however, it doesn't have much to do with passivity - until your own online course is up and running.
Then it's happy: if your funnel works you will regularly get the message that someone has bought a product again. You don't have to go any further.
By the time you're there, you have to be a doer. You must:
- the content create
- it technically set up (let)
- the Funnel build up (let)

Examples of online courses

You don't switch completely to online courses overnight. However, if you manage to get a third or half of your income that way, it will noticeably reduce your stress.
It's nice when you get the message that an online product has been sold again without much running around. Of course, your funnel has to be there for this:

Online courses: better for many customers
You also offer a solution for people outside your region. It would be a shame if it were not "attainable".
Many people do not live directly in a city with countless offers. Or have other reasons why they are not so mobile.
Online courses for learning have now established themselves outside of cities. Most of them have already made video calls with zoom. You don't need much more for your first offer!
Digital products as an introduction
Sometimes these offers (especially with smaller online courses) not primarily about making a lot of money. It is about initial customer contact and establishing trust.
Often someone first buys a low-risk, small product for a few hundred CHF or EUR and wins trust and is then ready to take more effective steps.
I recently bought an online course for around two hundred euros because I knew that one of the 10 modules saves me detours. I was happy for the quick solution. Saved a lot of time.
Now I know this course provider and have received added value. The hurdle to buy another product from him is much lower.
A common problem that our participants often have is that they have a hard time finding the first spark of confidence to win. If you then win this first spark, the rest will almost take care of itself.
What do you need for that?
Think about which one Offline training that you have already prepared, you could implement as online training with video lessons.
Usually an online product packaged in this way is significantly cheaper than the live training. That means: here again you make your solutions accessible to more people and don't burn out.
The following elements do you need to offer your digital product:
1) The actual course content
Structure your content in Modules and Lessons. For example 3 modules with 4 lessons each for an entry-level product. In each lesson you plan a video of 5 to 15 minutes in length. It could also be 3 shorter videos if the content makes sense.
Perhaps it will also help the participants if they also receive worksheets or a “workbook” as a PDF?
Tool tip: we use Trello to easily and visually plan the content of our online courses. It looks like this and you can add new ideas with the app on the go:
Per module we make a list in Trello and within this list the Trello card represents the individual Lessons So you can work very quickly and intuitively on your course content, rearrange it by moving around, etc.
2) The course platform
Now these lessons have to be placed somewhere. For example, we've set up a membership area on our website: Convertable Academy. (Technically, that's one of ours WordPress-Installation with the DigiMember and LearnDash plugins)

At the accompanied Funnel Bootcamp, we have set it up so that a module is activated every week. With the smaller storytelling course, all modules are available immediately after purchase.

3) Opportunity to purchase the digital product
Of course, you don't want to run after the buyers "by hand" and issue invoices for small course fees. There are different ones for this Sales platformswho do this work for you - against a percentage of sales.
We ourselves and some of our customers use it for this Digistore24 - one of the best-known solutions in the German-speaking area. Advantage: they regulate the whole VAT story, so make things easier.

4) A funnel to sell
Of course it is not enoughto set up everything nicely on your website and to create the content and link it with Digistore24.
How can you sell online courses?
You have to ensure - ideally without stress - that the right people find out about it, get to know your competence bit by bit, gain trust in you and recognize the value of your product.
That never happens within seconds or minutes.
You need a marketing funnelthat picks up these people in their challenge and provides them with added value so that they can see your competence and gain trust in you.
Your funnel is what brings you freedom. Not a super nice product on a super nice website with no visitors. We cannot stress that enough.
