IB Preparation - Intensive Course in Oxford and Cambridge

Campus / school grounds

The IB programs take place in the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge. On the one hand, they prepare the students for the Entry into the IB school system abroad or at an international school in Germany. On the other hand, we offer the for students who are already in the IB school system IB refresher course as well as the targeted IB exam preparation at.

The Preparatory programs for the International Baccalaureate School System take place during the summer in the historic Corpus Christi College in Cambridge, part of the prestigious University of Cambridge. The classrooms and accommodation are located in Newnham House, about ten minutes' walk from the city center. The students go to eat together with their supervisors in the historic main building and enjoy their meals in the traditional dining room with an atmosphere steeped in history. During all other holidays, students take the course at St Hilda's College, Oxford.

The IB refresher courses and the IB exam preparation courses receive the students in St Hilda's College, Oxford. The college is part of the University of Oxford and is beautifully embedded in a beautiful park, right on the River Cherwell. Students can walk to Oxford city center in ten minutes.

In both colleges, students have access to the beautiful gardens, receive their meals in the college dining room and enjoy the special, typically English, calm and motivating learning atmosphere on the campus of these historic and renowned educational institutions. The small groups are looked after in a particularly caring and individual manner. The course creates a pleasant family atmosphere in which the students can relax and work on their needs and gain self-confidence for their upcoming tasks.

Living & living on site

The students in the IB program have the choice between accommodation on campus in a boarding school in Germany (Easter and Whitsun) or St Hilda's College (IB summer) or the Corpus Christi College (pre-IB summer) as well as accommodation in a well-chosen host family. In all cases the students live in a single room.

Learning the language

The combination of mini-group and individual lessons ensures that each student works individually on their needs and is intensively encouraged and benefits from teamwork with other course participants in the group. Each student receives an individual timetable, which is geared towards their learning goals after the placement test. The teachers specialize in the IB and focus on written expression and the development of oral skills.

Pre-IB: Preparation for the 10th or 11th grade in the IB school system (also Pre-A-Level and Pre-GCSE) = preparation for entry into the English school system

This course is aimed at students who plan to transfer to a school in English-speaking countries with an IB, A-Level or GCSE system or to an international school with the IB school system in Germany. On the one hand, the course prepares the students for the new challenge in general language in 20 lessons per week and supplements the students' knowledge with 10 individual lessons in English specialist lessons such as mathematics or history. One-to-one tuition is mainly about introducing the specialist vocabulary in the IB, A-Level or GCSE area. We coordinate the exact course content with the individual students and parents before the start of the course.

IB repetition and tutoring (IB study)

The repetition program offers students who are already in the IB program an opportunity to work specifically on their language skills or specialist knowledge and to close existing gaps. You can choose on a weekly basis which focus you would like to set.

Recommendation: Individual IB exam preparation in one-to-one tuition

For intensive and individual IB exam preparation, we recommend taking the program in one-to-one tuition with 20 or 30 lessons per week. The hours are divided into the desired subjects as required. This course enables maximum support that is individually tailored to the student. In our experience, the one-to-one course is the best way for IB students to really work on their personal needs and prepare fully and effectively for their exam.

IB English and specialist courses (language based)

In 16 mini-group lessons, the focus is on the further development of English language skills with a special focus on text analysis, writing essays and the approach to an exam in general. In an additional 14 individual lessons, the student concentrates on his chosen IB subjects (higher level or standard level), on which he works individually with his teacher.

IB subject instruction (science based)

In the 16 mini-group lessons, the focus is on expanding specialist knowledge in natural science subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. If required, subjects such as history, economics, music or foreign languages are also covered. All subjects are offered at the higher level and standard level. Good language skills in English are required. Every Wednesday the students write test exams under test conditions, which are then evaluated and discussed. In the additional 14 individual lessons, further personal needs are shown, what has been learned is deepened and the personal focus of the individual student is worked on individually.

IB exam preparation (IB revision)

IB exam preparation in mini-groups and individual lessons
