OPPORTUNITIES TO EARN MONEY WITH YOUR WEBSITE

REAL OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR WEBSITE

If you are wondering how to make money from a website, you are not alone. Many people are looking for ways that they can make some extra money online.

However, you also need to be careful who you are listening to, some actually have experience of making money from a website and some not.
When many startup websites launched (including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and others), they didn't always have a plan for how to make money. Their primary goal was to focus on creating something that would attract attention and large traffic.

Once they have the traffic, many different ways to make money will open up. While I suspect none of us will be starting the next big internet startup (like Facebook), there are a few things we should keep in mind when creating a new website.

First, we should make sure that there is a market for our site (keyword research is an important part of that). Second, we should try to create something of value. Ultimately, ideally, we should find a niche where money is spent.

Today I want to focus on different ways in which you can make money from your website.

If you already have a website that is getting a bunch of traffic then congratulations! You can skip this section and read all there is to know about how you can make money from all of the visitors that come to your website.

However, if you don't have a lot of traffic on your website or WordPress blog yet, I want to spend a little time explaining to you how you can actually get some of that traffic ... so that you can then make money on your website or blog can.

This article is not intended to be a complete step-by-step guide to building a website, but rather a general overview.

Instead, let's start right away on how to get traffic to your website.

I will cover 4 main areas for traffic

search engines
Social media
Paid traffic
Direct sources

HOW TO GET TRAFFIC FROM SEARCH ENGINES
Did you know that search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo send traffic to your website for free if you can "rank" there? If so, you have probably done a search similar to "how to make money on a website" and you have found this article that you are reading now.

I didn't pay to have my item listed. However, it was listed on Google naturally and for free.

The ranking in search engines can be achieved through search engine optimization. If you want to dig into this topic, I have written a detailed guide for ranking in Google here.

Basically, however, there is a 3-step search engine ranking process that you should consider when trying to make money from your website.

Long keywords keywords
First, you need to try to rank for keywords that are not too difficult. If you try to rank on Google for something that is extremely competitive, even if thousands of people search for it every single month, your chances of getting traffic in the first place will decrease.

So I recommend that you target Long Keywords keywords that are much easier to rank.

Then just target lots of different keywords by writing great articles and your chances of showing up will be greater. The more long-tail keywords you target, the more traffic your website will get.

Long keywords are key to building an income stream because this is how you get the website traffic you need to build a profitable website.

WRITING GREAT CONTENT
The way you work towards keywords is to write an in-depth article on the subject.
Depending on the subject, you may need to write an article that is 3,000 to 5,000 words long, or even longer.

Once you add value, not only are you more likely to rank in Google, but you are also more likely to make money off of your website.

GET LINKS
A backlink is easy when a website mentions another website through a link that is clickable. These links act like “voices” showing that one website is more valuable than another.

Google scours the internet to see all the links pointing to your website and it tends to rank your website higher when you have higher quantity and quality of links.

HOW TO GET SOCIAL MEDIA TRAFFIC
Remember, the more traffic you get, the more money you can potentially make from a website.

Sometimes it can be easier to use social media than search engine traffic (at least in the short term) to increase the sales of your money-making website. In fact, many websites rely on social media for the majority of their traffic.

So if you don't want to worry about ranking in Google for the time being, there is another way.

You can get website visitors from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Youtube, Reddit, and many other social media platforms. The key to getting traffic on many of these social media channels is to be active there.

If you have a Facebook or Twitter account, you should regularly post updates and follow others. When it comes to Pinterest, you should regularly add "Pins" to your board and re-pin other Pins from other boards.

Of course, this isn't meant to be a complete guide to social media traffic, but a strategy that worked very well for me to quickly build a Facebook fanbase can be found here.

HOW TO GET DIRECT AND REFERRAL TRAFFIC
I think it's important to mention that if you're really working on building a brand for your website, people will come right back to your website by typing your domain in the address bar. This is direct traffic.

Given how you usually get to Facebook.com, I suspect you type it into the address bar or have an app on your phone to get there directly.

If other people link to your website and your website receives a lot of traffic, they will send some of those people to you through what is known as “referral” traffic.

Now that I've given a brief guide on how to actually get people to your website, I'd like to discuss how you can make money from a website.

THE FIRST STEP TO BUILDING A MONEY RETURNING WEBSITE IS TO BUY A DOMAIN AND GET HOSTING. YOU CAN START A BLOG IN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES! MY TOP PICK FOR HOSTING IS …… more later

HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITH A WEBSITE:

In the past I have mainly focused on Google Adsense for my own niche sites. However, since I started building websites, I've found that there are tons of Adsense alternatives out there.

Also, there are many ways you can make money from your website other than just advertising. Anyway, I'm going to show you how to get advertisers to pay you money through display ad networks.

But I'm also going to show you many other unique ways that you can turn your website into real business (i.e. money).

Getting More With Adsense: The best way to maximize your Adsense earnings is by testing placements. I use a free tool that does this automatically

When I start a niche website, I usually don't decide on any particular monetization strategy until I've chosen a niche and keyword. Sometimes I think I want to build an email list and monetize that list with affiliate marketing offers or my own products.

However, this is not set in stone and could change as I pick my niche OR test different strategies on the same page.

While you are thinking about how to make money off of your new niche site, I'm going to show you just how many options there are.

First I will list the general monetization opportunities (categories like CPA, contextual advertising, etc.) and then I will list the specific networks or options within each of these general categories.

Below, I'm going to outline different ways you can make money from your website.

PAY-PER-CLICK CONTEXT-RELATED ADVERTISING NETWORKS
Pay per click ad networks literally pay you every time someone clicks an ad on your website, whether or not they make a purchase. This is a great way to make money online from your website. Most of these networks are also very easy to add to your website.

You just sign up and get approved, then copy a short snippet of code and paste it on your website.

These are networks like Google Adsense that display ads based on the content of your website. Usually, these contextual networks pay you per click.

1. GOOGLE ADSENSE
If you're interested in learning how to apply and get approved on Google Adsense, I have a step-by-step guide. Most good looking websites shouldn't have a problem getting an Adsense account.
This is one of my personal favorites as it is easy to implement and offers relatively passive income for someone who is just starting out.

2. MEDIA.NET
Media.net manages all of the ads for Bing, Yahoo, and many other advertisers. A couple of people have told me that they can make more money with Media.net than with Google Adsense.

6. REVCONTENT

7. BIDVERTISER
Bidvertiser serves advertisements to a wide range of private customers. Advertisers can look at the websites on the network to find good matches for their website.

As a website owner, you use Bidvertiser to monetize your blog posts the same way you would use AdSense for your niche website.

8. PULSE360
Another option that has garnered attention for some impressive numbers in the past few years.

CPM ADVERTISING NETWORKS
Instead of paying per click, these ad networks pay per view (usually a dollar amount based on 1000 page views). Most of these networks require that you have a large number of visitors in order to be approved for their network. Hence, most of these networks won't work for smaller niche sites.

Your ability to get into these advertising opportunities usually depends on how many page views your website is generating.

So if you have a website that e.g. For example, if you get tons of traffic from Pinterest, you can monetize that traffic through some of the CPM networks listed below.

9. EZOIC ADS
Ezoic ads are display ads that also have an ad testing engine built in. In other words, Ezoic actively tests ad placement and the size of your ads to make sure you're making as much money as possible.

Ezoic ads are one of my favorite alternatives to Google ads. You get very good results!

10. MEDIAVINE
Mediavine is also a great display ad network if you have at least 30,000 sessions per month. These ads have great RPMs and have helped several webmasters I know increase the overall return on their websites.

If you have the traffic you need, it's definitely worth checking out. Especially if you're still mainly monetizing with Adsense.

11. CONVERSANT MEDIA
Impressive list of clients they work with. Something must definitely go well with a list like this!

If you have a website that is getting a lot of visitors (over 100,000 page views per month) then AdThrive is an excellent option.

15. MONUMETRIC
Another reputable display ad network for high traffic websites. This is not for the niche website starting out. But when you have the right number of website visitors, it's a great option to check out.

16. EPOM.COM
An advertising network that offers another great alternative to Google Ads.

17. ADBLADE.COM
Founded in 2008, Adblade is about using technology to create a mutually beneficial relationship between advertisers and website owners.

A network that works closely with both publishers and advertisers. Very good reputation.

20. DIGITAL REMEDY
Digital Remedy is another potential partner for the reach of online businesses and digital publishers.

21. SMARTYADS
Not for small niche website owners. There is a minimum of 300,000 monthly visitors before you can apply.

But this premium content advertising platform is worth a look if you get those traffic numbers.

Repixel connects you with advertisers who want to serve Facebook ads to people who have recently visited your website.

If you z. For example, blogging about golf, golf shops, golf apps, golf clubs, etc. would likely pay you good money to tag your visitors for advertising.

The nice thing about Repixel is that it works in the background so it's pure add-on income to whatever type of website monetization tactic you're already using.

There are thousands of other CPM advertising networks out there, these are just a few. You need to find one that fits your niche or works best for your website.

CPA NETWORKS (COST PER ACTION)
These types of ads pay a fixed dollar amount based on an action taken (e.g. a completed email form). Many of these affiliate marketing networks listed below offer both affiliate commissions (% of actual purchase price) AND CPA opportunities.

There are also many more ad networks than I could ever list in this category - these are just a few.

30. CPALEAD.COM
This is yet another platform that connects PPC advertising budgets from large companies to individual website owners looking to make money.

THERE ARE MANY OTHER CPA NETWORKS
Not to mention about a thousand others.

In general, these are great options when you're generating leads for businesses.

AFFILIATE NETWORKS
An affiliate network pays out a fixed amount or a percentage of the sales amount. As an affiliate marketer, you refer someone through your link and get paid when someone actually buys something.

As already mentioned, some of these networks flow into one another. That means that some of these affiliate networks also pay off on CPA offers.

Affiliate marketing is huge business and it's a great way to make money online.

You can read about the best affiliate programs here.

31. AMAZON PARTNER
This can be a good option because you get paid no matter what the person buys on Amazon in the 24-hour period (not just what you recommended them). If you happen to be building a niche site then I think this is an ideal option to start with.

Amazon has millions of products that you could write reviews about. Additionally, so many people are familiar with buying products on Amazon (and maybe even have a Prime account) that referring buyers to Amazon is really easy.

If you're curious to see some examples of how to refer visitors to Amazon or how to use Amazon affiliate links, go here.

You can also see my full guide to making money on Amazon here.

32nd COMMISSION JUNCTION (CJ.COM)
While it is undeniable that Amazon is the king of the mountain when it comes to physical products for the affiliate marketer, CJ is a close runner-up to many.

Commission Junction connects a large number of companies with affiliate marketers. This enables a website owner to partner with big, well-known brands in monetizing their website.

33. CLICKBANK
I've written a complete guide on how to make money with Clickbank.

34. SKIMLINKS
This is actually an in-content network, but it pays based on actual sales. So it's not a per-click basis, but it will automatically display ads based on your website's content.

35. LINKSHARE
Another popular affiliate link network used by many niche website owners.

36. CLIXGALORE
Not as well known as the other affiliate marketing options on this list, but a great option.

37. EBAY PARTNER NETWORK
(Actually pays per click - but the amount you make will go up or down based on the actual sales you've generated.

So if a lot of people buy from your links, you will get more per click).

38. AVANTLINK.COM
AvantLink is another affiliate commission based platform that is very popular. It has proven itself over the years and has a strong focus on outdoor affiliates.

39. RAKUTES
Rakuten has been working with bloggers and affiliates for nearly two decades.

40. PEPPERJAMNETWORK.COM
Another affiliate network that has been providing passive income to many niche website owners for years. Whether with a free website platform or a WordPress blog.

41. JVZOO.COM
Another proven affiliate network that has done a great job bringing together sellers and the affiliates who may benefit from promoting their products.

42. WARRIORPLUS.COM
A niche option that will be ideal for the right website owner.

DIRECT PARTNER PROGRAMS
Thousands (yes, thousands) of companies offer their own affiliate programs that are NOT listed on any network. These can be harder to find, but often pay very well.

However, if you are in a particular niche, you will know the types of products that your visitors might be interested in. So just do a quick Google search to see if these companies have an affiliate program.

Just enter “Company Name” + “Affiliate Program” or something similar to find results.

Here are just 2 examples of companies running their affiliate program in-house:

43. HOSTGATOR
They have a very popular affiliate program.

44. LINK WHISPER
This is my own software product that makes building internal links for your website much faster and easier. I run my own affiliate program here.

Independent affiliate programs are probably the largest category. That's because you can also reach out to companies directly and ask to start an affiliate program with them or otherwise work out a deal with them directly.

Sometimes you even get the best of both worlds. You sell a product through an Amazon affiliate link and for the sales reports of those sales you also receive a direct commission from the company itself.

SELL ADVERTISING SPACE DIRECTLY
This, too, is a large market with many possibilities. You can address people directly yourself or use an ad manager / network to help.

45. SELL YOUR OWN ADVERTISING SPACE
If you are a website owner who knows how to rank on google to drive organic search engine traffic then you have some value to offer advertisers.

The amount you can earn depends on the number of website visitors you have on a monthly basis as well as the niche you are in.

Sponsored content is another area that can go hand in hand with selling ad space.

If you like the idea of selling ad space but don't know where to start, consider reaching out to a broker:
CREATE YOUR OWN PRODUCT
The most profitable way to monetize your website is usually with your own product. The types of products you can create are of course only limited by your imagination. Here are just a few common options:

46. CREATE A VIDEO TRAINING COURSE
Here's an example of a video training course that is all about building a website from scratch and making money. It's called the Authority Hacker Site System.

47. CREATE AN EBOOK
If you want to learn how to self-publish a book on Amazon, I've written a guide for it. I was able to self-publish a book and get it to $ 100 a day in revenue in a relatively short amount of time.

You can also "publish" your book on your own website. A digital book can really just be a PDF file that you deliver to people once they've paid. I know of several people who are really good at publishing small books and selling them for $ 47 or more on their own niche websites.

If you have extremely targeted website traffic this can be a great option.

48. CREATE A MEMBERSHIP AREA OR PAID FORUM
This is definitely a bit more labor intensive. Even compared to writing a course online or managing your own online ads.

49. CREATE A SOFTWARE PROGRAM
I have created a couple of different software programs and I can tell you that this can be an excellent way to make money off of your website.

50. CREATE OTHER TOOLS, SERVICES, OR INFORMATION.
Do you see a need in a hobby or a niche for which no one offers a good solution? This could be your money-making opportunity!

51. START AND SELL A PRODUCT ON AMAZON.
If you're interested in selling products on Amazon, take a look at How I started selling on Amazon FBA. I was able to grow my Amazon FBA business from zero to a nice exit when I recently sold my Amazon business.

SPONSORED CONTRIBUTIONS
This is a very common way for bloggers to make money.

In a nutshell, brands ask bloggers to write an article that reviews their product or makes their product stand out in any way. The brands pay anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars per post.

52. SPONSORED CONTRIBUTIONS
This is a great way for brands to get in front of the audience they want to target. And this is a great way to make money blogging.

However, it is important that you point out somewhere on the article page to readers that it is a sponsored post and that you have received compensation for writing the post.

You also have to make sure that all links are "no followed", then Google is happy with the sponsored post.

SELL TEXT LINKS
Obviously, this is not for everyone and many consider it questionable. Personally, I would never sell links on my website and I strongly advise against this practice. Google can and will penalize your website so that it won't appear in search engines if you are caught buying or selling links.

But there is a huge market. The demand won't go away. So while I strongly advise against doing this if you go through with it anyway, here are a few places to sell links:

53. TEXTLINKBROKERS.COM
The name is exactly what it sounds like. They are a place to buy links to your niche page or to sell links to other sites.

54th DIGITAL POINT FORUM
Marketing forums have long been a place to exchange links or pay for links.

55th WARRIOR FORUM
Not as robust as it used to be, but still a place where this practice takes place.

DONATE
When all else fails, you can ask for money :). Many sites have done this in the past with varying degrees of success. Wikipedia is probably the most famous site that lives 100% off user donations.

56. ASK FOR DONATIONS
You can also set up a Patreon account, which is something of a long-term persistent donation search. This won't be right for a lot of niche websites, but depending on your audience and the services you offer, this could be an option.

Be aware that when using certain platforms like PayPal, the wording matters. In many cases, you may not have a "donate" button unless you are actually a charity.

That is true even if you are a local company helping the community. But “Buy Me a Beer” or “Buy Me a Burger” are often perfectly fine.

SELL YOUR SKILLS
See, it's no secret why Google Ads, affiliate marketing, or other popular methods of building an income stream are so popular. Who doesn't want passive income? Getting a monthly check for work done months or years ago?

Nice and good. But you can sell your skills to make money NOW.

57. SELL YOUR SKILLS
Setting up your website properly can sell your skills. Whether as a consultant, freelancer, or trader, you can sell your unique skills to your website audience.

Are you good with videos? Help Others Build Profitable YouTube Channels.
Are you a local SEO professional? Reach out to local businesses to work on their marketing.
Do you have unusual skills? Create a digital product. Or a range of digital products and teach / advise you.
Do you have the skills to do a little of anything? A reliable virtual assistant (VA) can be paid well!
While this is not a straight line to the passive income dreams that many have, it is a monetization method that is far too often overlooked. Your skills will be valuable to someone. If you can generate a sufficiently large stream of income from it, it can change your life!

58. SERVING LOCAL BUSINESSES
In general, many small business owners would rather work with someone locally than with a huge nameless company. Especially when it comes to online business, online advertising, and other important things that they don't understand.

Look, the truth is, there are a lot of big companies that offer these "services" that have no idea what they're doing - and so aren't really helping the small business hoping for a boost in online business.

If you have a skill, knowledge, or skill that can actually help a local business and show results, then you can build a very profitable side business. That can be your income as you work to build more income streams to create your ideal passive income.

SELL YOUR SITE
Even if you never monetize your website, you might be able to sell it for a pretty penny! If you're building your site's traffic or otherwise having an audience, there's value there. If the traffic is high enough, you could be selling for a lot of money (think traffic from Twitter ...).

And of course, people keep buying brand new websites that have no traffic or audience due to their design and niche (but usually for very cheap).

59. SELL YOUR SITE
If you are interested in buying or selling a website, I recommend looking around for smaller content websites at MotionInvest.com.

To be honest, there are probably several other ways you can make money from a website, but this is a good place to start! And there are certainly thousands of other advertising networks or affiliate programs that you can use.

But for the most part all of your options for how to make money from a website will fit into these main categories covered: Pay Per Click Networks, CPM Ad Networks, CPA Networks, Affiliate Networks, Direct Affiliate Programs, Sell ad space, create a product, sponsored posts, sell text links, donate, or sell your website.

Overall, I hope you have found this list helpful as you start building, growing, and making income from your website. How much money you can make from blog posts or your website in general usually depends on your own marketing efforts.

If you can attract a large enough audience or traffic, then the opportunity to make money is very real. This really can be a legitimate work-at-home option.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this! Have I overlooked any important networks or methods of making money? Let's discuss below.
