Microsoft has made some changes in the background so that Windows 10 games that are available from the Windows Store can now be played even when there is no online connection. This benefits games that can also be played offline, such as Gears of War 4. According to Microsoft, the majority of games support the ability to play them without an Internet connection.

The procedure for offline gaming fun turns out to be a bit cumbersome. According to this Microsoft support page, which is currently only available in English, the offline mode must first be activated in the Windows Store settings for the device on which the games are to be played offline. It should be noted that certain game functions are of course not available in offline mode. Such as buying new game content or the online leaderboards.

With each Microsoft account, however, the desired offline device can only be specified a maximum of three times per year. If a fourth change is necessary, then Microsoft support must be contacted.

For comparison. Steam also supports an offline mode. To do this, you switch the game client to this offline mode via the corresponding menu item, restart the client and then immediately play all games offline. You can do this as often as you like.

Attention: These games are only available in the Windows 10 store
