The consul in charge of passports for Polish nationals abroad issues two types of passport documents: Passports and temporary passports

A valid passport document:

  • entitled to cross the border and stay abroad,
  • certifies the Polish citizenship,
  • certifies the identity of the holder (in the area of ​​the information contained in the document).

A passportpassport issued to a person under the age of 13 is valid for 5 years from the date of issue, and a passport for a person over the age of 13 is valid for 10 years from the date of issue.

The passport has a microprocessor that stores biometric data: facial features and fingerprints.

A temporary passport can be issued for:

  • Persons who are temporarily staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland or abroad for the purpose of returning to their permanent place of residence,
  • Persons who are temporarily staying abroad for the period up to the delivery of a passport issued in the Republic of Poland (if they wish to do so and request this document to be issued),
  • Persons staying in the Republic of Poland or abroad, in proven exceptional cases in connection with an illness or a funeral of a family member,
  • Persons who are staying in the Republic of Poland or abroad, in proven exceptional cases in connection with the run business,
  • People who cannot be fingerprinted temporarily.

The validity of a temporary passport cannot be longer than 12 months from the date of issue.

Note

An honorary consul is not authorized to issue travel documents.
