Who taught you how to love

Matthias Reim How to love lyrics

We were young, so wild and free, but when school came it was over.
They stuffed us with knowledge, with all sorts of things that one never needs.
Physics, Chemistry, and Algebra, and when Napoleon was in Russia.
And how man multiplies here, God and the prophets, what sin is and praying. We have been taught everything.

But nobody taught us how to love.
I still don't know exactly how to do it right.
I thought it would be very easy, everyone here can do that,
but that one has to learn to love, I only know from you.

We learned how to sit quietly and how to measure the distance to the stars.
How to correctly separate the words and put rows of numbers together.
And also when Rome went under, and how to hang enemies on the gallows.
Why the world needs armies, everything about wars, defeats, victories, my head was smoked.

But nobody taught us how to love.
I still don't know exactly how to do it right.
I thought it would be very easy, everyone here can do that,
but that one has to learn to love, I only know from you.

What do I care why Atom has to split?
I would much rather have known more about this thing much earlier.

But nobody taught us how to love.
No for the most important thing in the world, there is still no subject today.
I thought it would be very easy, everyone here can do that.
But that one has to learn to love, I only know from you.

I only know that from you.

I thought it would be very easy, everyone here can do that.
But that one has to learn to love, I only know from you.

I only know that from you.
