What do doctors do about lead poisoning

First aid in case of poisoning

There can be many reasons behind an existing poisoning:

Drug poisoning

Drug poisoning can happen from drug overdose. In children, confusion is often the cause. Possible consequences of drug poisoning: tremors, sensitivity to touch and light, dilation of the pupils, up to difficult breathing and circulatory problems.

Alcohol poisoning

Alcohol poisoning manifests itself, among other things, in a slower ability to react, significant language and memory disorders and can lead to circulatory failure. Then only immediate resuscitation measures and permanent control of the respiratory function will help.

Carbon monoxide poisoning

Carbon monoxide is completely colorless and odorless. Symptoms can be dizziness, headache, nausea and even loss of consciousness. Badly maintained gas boilers or defective heating stoves are to blame for carbon monoxide poisoning. An uncleaned thermal bath can also lead to such an emergency in the shower.

Chemical poisoning

It usually triggers severe pain quickly - due to the strong corrosive effect. Depending on the type and amount of the substance (e.g. all-purpose cleaner for the household), there are other, differently pronounced symptoms: nausea, vomiting, intense salivation as well as reddening and swelling of the affected skin area. Coughing, shortness of breath and clouding of consciousness can also be the result. Children in particular are at risk - the most common poisoning accidents affect children under the age of 4.

Food poisoning

Food poisoning is often caused by bacteria (e.g. Salmonella) which enter the organism through the ingestion of contaminated food. There they attack the intestinal mucosa and lead to inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea can also indicate the body has come into contact with heavy metals or toxins in fish and mussels that have been eaten. Possible fungal poisoning can also manifest itself with such signs.
