How difficult is clinical psychology

Is it very difficult to study psychology?

Students ask:

Is studying psychology very difficult? In which subjects do you have to be good in order to study psychology?

Esther, student at the University of Halle-Wittenberg:

Difficult is relative. You definitely have to do something for it. It doesn't hurt to be good at math, bio and German, but it's not mandatory. The university is very different from school. Above all, you have to have discipline and bite your way through statistics.

Katja, graduate of the University of Tübingen:

It's a matter of interest I would say. Depending on how much you are interested in certain things, you will perceive your studies as either easy or difficult. Some universities weight your science subjects more heavily than your sports or religion grade, for example. However, I would say you should be interested in statistics, biology, and English. Because statistics is the subject that is screened out, you also come across biology very often, especially in the clinical focus. And you have English throughout your studies, because the language of science is English. You have to read a lot and that's in English. You don't have to be able to speak perfectly or have studied all of the vocabulary diligently, but you shouldn't hate English.

Moritz, graduate of the University of Göttingen:

Every student probably perceives the difficulty of studying differently. However, if you are considering starting a psychology degree, you have to be aware that the learning workload can sometimes be relatively high and that complex issues have to be laboriously worked on yourself from time to time. BUT: That applies to almost every degree. The main question should therefore be: Are I really interested in the subject? If so, then it is also very easy to master.
