The Titanic sent an SOS

Ship as Titanic. Titanic's death is not a disaster, it was the execution

Not the most terrifying casualties, the death of Titanic remains the most famous shipwrawing in history. Real interesting facts Scientists, specialists and ordinary ordinary people were taken about the crash and death of a well-known ship, on the services of which is distinguished from books, television programs, documentary and feature films, including the famous picture of James Cameron. However, in the sea grub disaster, white spots remain, which requires filling. Here we want to present 15 real facts on the death of the legend of the legend Titanic, the wreck of which occurred on April 14, 1912 when a collision with iceberg in the Atlantic was in the Atlantic. The ship sat after two and a half hours when the 15th day came.

On April 10, 1912, an eight-phase ship, a titanic, solemn desperation from Southampton to New York on its first and last voyage. Four days later, after a collision with a mountain of ice in the northern part of the Atlantic, the ship received several holes below the waterline. First assistant Captain William Murdoch noticed the approaching iceberg every minute before the strike, but for reasons unknown, thirty seconds were seen before they sounded the alarm. It was far from the only flaw that led to the Titanic's collar. Below are other tragic entertaining facts.

1. After Titanic's collision with the iceberg, the ship's deck was covered with snow and ice swimmers, which many passengers perceived as an unexpected focus, and began to play ice fragments in football, not even suspecting the coming nightmare.

John Jacob Astor IV
2. The prime ticket was worth $ 100,000 on modern new permissions, so there were really wealthy people on the upper deck, and John Jacob Astor IV was the richest among them, whose condition was estimated at $ 85 million. In the current century, Astor would be considered a billionaire. Bogach went swimming with his wife, who was put in the lifeboat, and the disciplined (past of the army) began to expect themselves. Astor Quarter did not survive.

3. According to statistics on the sunken ship giant, 74% of the women and 20% of the men survived, so with all the scandals and shameful panic actions, a strong half of the passenger population with a fair half. As they did without exaggeration, the heroic members of the ship orchestra supported colleagues in the misfortune of their game until the last minute.

4. Parisian-style café, Turkish bath, gym, large library with reading room, squash area, living garden, hairdressing salon, heated pool, elevators and other luxurious atmosphere consisted of the daily comfort of the first-class passengers who were asked to feel at home feel. At the same time, the seven hundred people from third grade enjoyed two tiny bathrooms.

5. Photos of satisfied with life and transatlantic swimming of first-class travelers in the Balnaya Paroznaya hall at night 04/14/1912 in a few minutes before the accident.

6. The news of the actual situation with the surviving and dead passengers remained a secret to the rest of the world for several days, and the first newspapers ever reported that all tourists and crew members survived during the titanic crash.

7. In terms of blueprints, the Titanic was equipped with 64 lifeboats in order to reduce the project and not spoil the ship, to push the ship with the colonels of the tourists, only 20 boats were available at the fateful moment. At rescue events, many of the boats only filled half way as the team turned out to be practically non-avral for an avral situation, and in a state panic made a number of mistakes.

Ship Orchestra "Titanic"
8. The most beautiful story of salvation happened with Charles Jugina, a regular table at the Titanic. The cook wasn't very lucky to break into one of the rescue groups, so KOK dangled in the water for two and a half hours, and an amazing way wasn't frozen by the cold, which happened to the rest of them trying to survive in ice water. Jughin then argued that he was saved by a mighty line of whiskey that the chef diligently worked on before falling overboard.

9. The writer science fiction Morgan Robertson in the novel "Freshness or Titans Wreck" described the shipwreck, which was strangely enjoyed the April disaster of 1912, and with almost exact coincidence the name of the floating transport. However, the novel was written in 1898 when the Titanic was only the fruit of the imagination of its future designers.

10. Titanic was brought to a honeymoon of thirteen couples for whom the romantic vacation became a nightmare attraction.

11. One of the reasons that the team showed incompetence in rescue procedures is the fact that the study lecture and practical classes are covered with passengers emergency situation The sea was scheduled for the day on April 15 - too late because the tragedy on the eve of the Day X took place X.

12. Almost immediately after the flood, the wealthy loved ones of the dead tourists discussed the opportunity to discuss the opportunity to pick up the ship and deliver it to New York, but the years and decades have not brought the desired results. The depth of this section of the ocean reaches several kilometers, once it is the invention of deep-water batiskofs and speeches, it could not be the redemption of the Titanic, which was considered to have been for more than seventy years. It was not until September 1, 1985 that the superior device "Argo" took the first frame with the details of the deceased vessel at a depth of about 4000 meters.

13. Halomonas Titanic - a new bacterium, the metallic metal, is named after the steamer lying on the ground that has been completely "burner" for twenty-nine years unless the ship is raised to the surface.

14. James Cameron created a great job devoted to love and epic tragedy, however, on Titanic and without a fantasy director, there were people demonstrating the world of amazing romantic and tragic history that will forever be in the annals of human civilization remains.
American-German businessman Isidore Strauss and his spouse IDA lived for more than forty years before he traveled on the famous ship. The entrepreneur had the opportunity to be saved among them, but refused to occupy a place in a boat filled with women and children. And Ida did not want to leave his beloved spouse, so she refused without saving her husband. Therefore, the Strauss spouses, little hands, remained on the deck and adequately met their death.

15. In addition to Strauss, the shipwreck became fatal for one and a half thousand people. Specialists call paragraph 1513, which could be a lot smaller if all safety rules were followed on the Titanic, or at least there were no Frank-Duty cases. For example with a key from the binoculars.

David Blair, who previously answered this role of assistant captain, was removed from the flight and replaced on an experienced officer. And Blair forgot to give the key from the box that led to the lack of binoculars on the deadly night. Fetching Fred Fleet saw the ship's death and then argued that if he had an ordinary sea body on hand, it would have noticed an approach of ice disaster much earlier.

"Titanic" (English. Titanic) is the British transatlantic steamer, the second liner of the Olympic class. Built in Belfast in the "Harland & Woolf" shipyard from 1909 to 1912 for the size of the shipping company "White Star Line".

At the time of commissioning it was the largest ship in the world.

On the night of April 14-15, 1912, during the first flight in the north Atlantic, faced with an iceberg failed.

Information about the ship

"Titanic" was equipped with two four-cylinder steam engines and a steam turbine.

  • All power point possessed with a capacity of 55,000 liters. of.
  • The ship could develop speeds of up to 23 knots (42 km / h).
  • Its displacement over the twin tamper "Olympic" to 243 tons was 52,310 tons.
  • The body of the vessel was made of steel.
  • The hold and the lower decks were divided into 16 compartments by cups with hermetic doors.
  • If the underside was damaged, the water inlet in the compartments prevented the double bottom.

The "Shipbilder" magazine called "Titanic" was practically not carried out, this statement was widely circulated in the press and in the public.

In accordance with the obsolete rules, "Titanic" was equipped with 20 lifeboats, a total capacity of 1178 people, which was only a third of the maximum load on the steamer.

Cabins and public spaces "Titanic" were divided into three classes.

The first class passenger services have a swimming pool, a squash court, a restaurant and a la carte, two cafes, a gym. In all classes there were eating and smoking talents, open and closed promenade. The most luxurious and sophisticated interiors first class interiors made in various artistic styles using expensive materials such as: B. a red tree, gilding, stained glass, silk and others. The cabins and the third-class salons were made as simple as possible: the steel walls were white or weathered with wooden panels.

1 On April 0, 1912, Titanic departed Southampton on its first and only flight. After the ship was stopped in French Sherbour and Irish Quincenown, the ship entered the Atlantic with 1317 passengers and 908 crew members on board. Commanded by the ship, Captain Edward Smith. On April 14, the Titanic radio station accepted seven ice warnings, but the liner was however nearing the speed limit. To avoid meeting with Floating Ice, the captain ordered to go a little south of the usual route.

  • At 11:39 pm. April 14 he literally reported the captain's bridge over iceberg at the rate. Less than a tiny collision occurred. After receiving a couple of slits, the steamer began to sink. The boat was mainly planted for women and children.
  • At 2:20 in the morning, April 15, the Titanic broke in two, sank after taking the lives of 1,496 people. 712 Detected people picked up a steamer "Carpathian".

The rubble "Titanic" lies at a depth of 3750 m and was first found in 1985 on Robert Ballard's expedition. Subsequent expeditions raised from the bottom of thousands of artifacts. The nose and lining parts had gone deep into the ground, and are not possible in a deplorable state approaching the surface.

"Titanic" steamer

The disaster claimed life, according to various sources, from 1495 to 1635 people. Until December 20, 1987, when the collapse of the Philippine ferry "Ready Paz", which had no more than 4,000 people, the death of "Titanic" remained in the crowd large dead disasters at sea in peacetime. Informal is the most famous catastrophe of the XX century.

Alternative vehicle death versions

And now - alternative versions, each of which has its followers in the World Mauneners Club.

Fire

Fire in the coal room, surrendered before sailing, provoking first an explosion and then a collision with an iceberg. The owners of the ship knew about the fire and tried to hide it from passengers. British journalist Shanan Moloni nominated such a version, writes the independent. Moler has been investigating the causes of the collapse of the "Titanic" for more than 30 years.

In particular, he studied the photographs taken before the ship left the shipyard in Belfast. The journalist saw black labels along the right side of the ship's hull - right where Eisberg hit him. The EXPERTS then confirmed that traces were probably caused by the fire in the fuel storage system. "We looked closely at the place where Iceberg is stuck and it seems that part of the body in that place was very vulnerable and that happened before it left the Belfast shipyard," says Moloni. A team of 12 tried to turn the flame off, but it was too big to get under control quickly. It could reach a temperature of up to 1000 degrees Celsius, which made the titanic fall in this location very vulnerable. And when he hit the ice, the experts celebrate, broke immediately. The release added that the liner's guide was recreated by the fire passengers. "This is the perfect coincidence of unusual factors: fire, ice and criminal negligence. Nobody examined these labels beforehand. It completely changes history," says Moloni.

conspiracy

Conspiracy Theory: This is not "Titanic" at all! This version was nominated by specialists to investigate the causes of the death of Robin Gardiner and Dan van der Watt's ship, published in the book "Titanic Mystery". According to this theory, the Titanic and its twin brother are not "Olympic" at all. These vessels on the view were practically no different from each other. On September 20, 1911, Olympic collided with the cruiser of the British fleet "Falken", which seriously damaged both ships. Olympic owners suffered great losses as the damage that the "Olympic" was pronounced for insurance payments.

The theory is based on the assumption of possible fraud to obtain insurance from the owners of "Titanic". According to this version, the owners of Titanic intend to send Olimpik into the area of the possible appearance of ice, convincing the captain not to reduce speed, so that the ship was seriously damaged in a collision with an ice bard. This version initially reinforced the fact that from below the Atlantic Ocean, where the "Titanic" is located, a sufficiently large number of items was raised, but nothing was found that would be the name "Titanic". This theory became disgusting after the details were raised on the surface on which the aboard (construction) number "Titanic" was deposited - 401. Olimpika, the board number was 400. In addition, the board number "Titanic" was discovered and Auf the oar screw of the sunken vessel. And yet, the conspiracy theory still remains a number of supporters.

German attack

1912. There are two years left to World War I, and the prospect of armed conflict between Germany and Great Britain becomes more likely. Germany is the owner of several dozen submarines who, during the war, deployed the ruthless hunt for enemy ships to cross the ocean. The reason for America's entry into the war, for example, will be the fact that in 1915 the submarine U-20 sweep "Lusitania" - a branch of the "Mauritania" that set the speed record and won the "blue ribbon of the Atlantic." "- do you remember?

Based on these facts, some Western publications in the mid-1990s were offered their version of the death of "Titanic": a torpedo attack by the German submarine that was secretly escorting the liner. The purpose of the attack discredited the British fleet, famous for its power throughout the world. In accordance with this theory, "Titanic", whether it did not hit the iceberg at all, whether it received very little damage in a collision, and would have flowed if the Germans did not finish the ship torpeda.

What speaks this version in favor of this version? To be honest, nothing.

The collision with iceberg was - there is no doubt about it. The deck of the ship even fell asleep with snow and ice cream. Cheerful passengers began to play in football - that the ship is doomed, later it becomes clear. The collision itself happened surprisingly quietly - almost no one felt it from the passengers. Torpeda, you'll agree, it might agree, it could barely explode silently (especially sure the submarine released six torpedoes from the ship!).

However, supporters of the German attack theory claim that people in the boats heard a terrible roar before diving, "Titanic" - well, it was two and a half hours later when the ship's feed and death did not cause doubts about the water. It's unlikely that the Germans would have released a torpedo on almost a sunken ship, right? And the roar that was heard was explained by the fact that the feed of "Titanic" rose almost vertically and had large boilers from its places. Also, don't forget that about the same minutes "Titanic" broke in half - Kiel couldn't withstand the weight of the rising lining (but don't learn until after finding a liner below: the result was lower than the water level below), and that's dumb shit too. And why was the passenger liner locked in two years before the start of the war, would it be a passenger liner? It seems easy to be doubtful. And just speak - absurd.

curse

Mystical version: Pharaoh's curse. It is known for certain that one of the historians, Lord Centville on the "Titanic" in a wooden box, transported the well-preserved Egyptian mummy priestess - Jewelrs. Since the mummy had a rather high historical and cultural value, it was not brought to the halt, but was placed directly near the captain's bridge. The essence of the theory is that the Mummy influenced the capital of Captain Smith, which despite numerous ice warnings in the area in which the "Titanic sailed", did not let the speed and thus the ship fall to faithful death. In favor of this version, known cases of the mysterious death of the people who disturb the peace of the ancient burial, especially the mummified Egyptian ruler. In addition, deaths were fraught with clouding of reason, as it happened, in which people took inadequate action, often had cases of suicide. Pharaoh put her hand on the death of "Titanic"?

Steering error

One of the newest versions of the Death of Titanic deserves special attention. It appeared after the romance of the granddaughter of the second assistant captain "Titanica", CH. Lytoller Lady Patten "on the weight of gold." According to the version patented in his book, the vessel had enough time to cast the obstacle, but Robert-Hitchen's steering did not clean or turn the steering wheel.

A catastrophic failure resulted in the iceberg causing damage vessel that became fatal for him. The truth is that a secret actually happened that fateful night, kept secret within the Lightoller family - the oldest of Titanic's surviving officers and the only survivors who knew exactly what caused the ship's death. Lytoller hid this information from concerns that the White Star Line company that owned the ship would go bankrupt and his colleagues would lose their jobs. The only person Lytoller told the truth was his wife Sylvia, who ignored her husband's words to her granddaughter. In addition, according to Patten, such a large and reliable liner as "Titanic" sank so quickly because it did not stop immediately after hitting a block of ice, and the water speed in the holds increased hundreds of hundreds. The liner was not stopped immediately as the manager of the company "White Star Line" Bruce Ismey convinced the captain to continue swimming. He feared that the incident could cause significant material damage, which is being managed by the company.

Chase for the "blue ribbon of the Atlantic"

There were still many supporters of this theory, especially among writers, because it seemed short circles. The Blue Ribbon of the Atlantic is a prestigious award in shipping given to the sea liners for crossing the North Atlantic at record speeds.

In the time of the "Titanic", this award has a ship "Mauritanien" of the company "Kunard", which incidentally was the founder of this award and the main competitor of the company "White Old Line". of which the President Titanic, who belonged to Captain "Titanic" Smith, arrived in New York for the day before the last time in New York and received the honorary award. This supposedly explains the high speed of the vessel in the dangerous area of the Atlantic. This theory can However, it could easily be returned, since the "Titanic" was simply physically able to develop the speed of 26 knots, on which the "Mauritania" of the Kunard company set a record, which incidentally, more than 10 years after the disaster in the Atlantic .

But what was it really like?

No matter how unfortunate, but studying the history of the most famous marine disaster, must admit that with his death "Titanic" owes a long chain of fatal accidents. If at least one link in the eerie chain was broken, the tragedy could be avoided.

Perhaps the first link was the successful start of the journey - yes - yes, that's the way. On the morning of April 10th, during the departure of "Titanic" from the gentle wall of the Southampton port, the superliner was too close to the American ship "New York" and there was a phenomenon known in navigation as the sorting of Ships: "New York" began to lure "Titanic" to a move nearby. However, thanks to the skill of Captain Edward Smith Collision could be avoided.

Ironically, it would be a crash, it would save a life and a half: if the "Titanic" was delayed in port, the badly flying meeting with Eisberg did not happen.

This time. It should be noted that Radines, who take on the Mesab ship's message across icebergs, did not lend his Edward Smith: the telegram was not marked with a special prefix "personal captain" and was not included in the papers. These are two.

Even so, the news wasn't the only one, and the captain knew about the danger of ice. Why didn't he slow the ship's course? The pursuit of the "Blue Ribbon" is of course the honor of honor (and big business, above all), but why did it risk the lives of the passengers? Yes, not so risky at the moment. During those years, captain cruise ships often passed. dangerous ice areas without speed reduction: it was like moving the path to the red light: it appears, and you cannot do that, but it always appears. Almost always.

To honor the Captain Smith, I have to say that he remained true to the maritime traditions and stayed on a thin ship to the end.

But why didn't the rod of the iceberg notice? Everything developed one to one: church, dark night, windless weather. If there was a little ripple on the waterfront we could see the white lambs at the foot of the iceberg. The rest and the dull night are two more focal chains.

As it turned out later, the chain was continued by the fact that Iceberg was shortly before the collision with "Titanic" was shortly before the collision with "Titanic", surrounded with a dark part, which is why it was almost invisible at night (usually, White Iceberg would for mile). The Sentient selected it only 450 meters and there is almost no time to maneuver. Maybe Eisberg would have been seen earlier, but the next link in the deadly chain played the role here - in the "Voronienennest" it was not created as binoculars. The box in which they were kept turned out to be locked, and the key received from him in a hurry with him the second assistant captain with his ship before departure.

After the troublemaker still saw the danger and reported to the cabin bridge on Eisberg, before the collision lasted a little more than half a minute. The Mordo's Wrapal Officer, who was at the clock, gave the steering authority to switch the steering arrangement while the team passed "full back" into the engine room. Therefore, he made a gross mistake by adding another link in the chain that was led to death by the liner: even if the "Titanic" fell in the forehead in the iceberg forehead, the tragedy would be less. The ship's nose would be killed, part of the team would die and those passengers whose cabins are ahead of us. But only two watertight compartments would flood. With such damage, the liner would stay afloat and wait for the help of other vessels.

And if the morradok turning the ship to the left is deployed on the left to climb, and not reduce the speed, collision, maybe there would be no way. In all fairness, however, the order to change the speed is unlikely to play a significant role here: in thirty seconds it was barely time to fulfill itself in the engine room.

So the collision happened. Iceberg damaged the fragile lining of the ship along the six right side compartments.

Suppose we can say that we can only escape at seven hundred four: the next chain of link fails, that some sailors literally understood the order of the captain in the boat of women and children, and did not leave the men there if there were free places . At first nobody in particular and did not storm in the boat. The passengers did not understand what was going on and did not want to leave a huge, cozy, such reliable liner, and it is not clear why in a small unstable boat descends on ice water. However, pretty soon someone would have noticed that the deck was increasingly looking forward to it, and the panic began.

But why was there such a monstrous discrepancy between the lifeboats? The owners of Titanic, praising the advantages of the new ship, stated that they even exceeded the instructions of the Code: instead of the 962 rescue locations on the ship, there were 1178. The inconsistency of this number with the number of passengers on board the value of the value , unfortunately, has not connected.

Particularly bitterly, what was not far from the dying "Titanic", loses the risk of ice, another passenger steamer, "Californian". A few hours ago he announced the neighboring vessels that were blocked with ice and forced to stop so that they were accidentally damned to ice bleeding. A radist with the "Titanic", whom he was almost standing by Morolanka with Californian (ship ships very close, and the signal from one of them answered too loudly in the other headphones), a warning was rudely interrupted: "Flight in line, you are disturbing Me with work! ". What Was The "Titanic" Radioist So Busy?

The fact is that the ship's radio communications were more of a luxury than an urgent need during those years, and this marvel of technology initiated a great deal of interest among the wealthy public. From the very beginning of the flight of the Radisticians literally poured the messages of a private nature - and no one saw anything reprehensible in which the Titanic radio station referred to rich passengers who wanted to send telegrams to earth directly from the side of the liner. At that moment, when colleagues from other vessels reported floating ice.Radistics has passed another message to the continent. Radiocommunication was more of an expensive toy than a serious tool: a 24-hour clock from the radio station wasn't even established on the ships of that time.

Seven o'clock seven years ago, on a cold night from April 14th to 15th, in the middle of the Atlantic, the most famous maritime catastrophe in all of humanity. The ship of the company "White Star Line", which is the proud name of "Titanic" kills in the middle of its first flight and had sentenced a thousand five hundred fourth human lives with it to become the most famous ship in the world.

Why did the most perfect ship of this era sank - the ship that was deemed totally unsuccessful? Without a few hundred years, the active human mind builds the versions of the catastrophe, the blessings in the riddles. There is no fault. I've been interested in this story from childhood - now I probably don't remember where it all began. About the most famous versions of the tragedy today, I want to tell you.

The first version. Conspiracy theory

"Olympic and Titanic: the largest steamers in the world"

Few people know that the "Titanic" had a twin brother - the "Olympic" ship, an exact copy of its own, also owned by the white line. How can the reader be surprised, because "Titanic" was considered a unique ship, the largest ship of the era, and now it turns out that there was another ship that is not inferior to him? No, "Titanic" was really longer than its twin. Two inches. Imagine - the length of the matchbox! - but still longer. Another thing is that they noticed those inches with the naked eye (and armed, maybe too) it was almost impossible so that a third party person looking at the twins' standing board couldn't tell which of them was from them is.

"Olympic" was a year older than his brother (so it'll be neat Titanic to call him a copy) and not very lucky. Probably it was necessary to write something like "from the beginning above each of the ships Vital Evil Rock", but a little later: of course, the greatest naval disaster could not miss mystical rumors. I'll tell you about them later, but until we don't go any further. Twins: "Titanic" (right) and "Olympic"

Well, rock, not rock, and the fate of Olimpik and indeed was fraught with difficulties. His career began with the fact that the ship crashed into a dam during the descent on the water. After that, small and large accidents flew over him alone, and the ship even seems to be insured. It is mitigated that after a few accidents, the owners and funts of their ship would be insured and the insurance companies refused to deal with the liner-liner. The worst accident was a collision with the English military cruiser "Hawk", which led the company "White Star" to tangible financial problems: it had to be expensive repairs, and the company's financial situation was very sad. So "Olympic" was delivered to Belfast Dokov to await a decision on its future fate. And now - watch out! Take a look at the photo on the left - this is almost the only existing snapshot that shows the "Titanic" and "Olympic" being taken side by side. It was made in Belfast. Final Snap "Titanic"
at the Belfast shipyard

WHY NOT Don't assume, they said some researcher, the white star line decided to test the big scam. Put the old "Olympic" in the rescue cabin, and give it to the new "Titanic"! Technically it would not be difficult to change places with the names of the dishes, and even the interior decorations on which the monogram of the ships is applied, for example the cutlery (olimpika with "Titanic"). and some constructive differences - well, yes who knows?). Then "olympic" under the guise of a new, prestigious, widespread, widely advertised (and of course the honor of the insured) "Titanic" will go on a journey across the Atlantic, where it will naturally flow out) With iceberg (well, missing in them at that time there was no year). Of course, no one would turn the liner - yes no one believed that an iceberg could send down the most reliable ship in the world. It was planned to arrange a small collision after which the ship would not rush to New York, and its owners will receive an amount of grain insurance that the company will have to employ, as usual.

For this version there is strange behavior from the ship's captain, Edward Smith. Why is such a seasoned, seasoned sea wolf who reacted so carelessly to the safety of his vessel? Why did he stubbornly ignore the messages coming from other ships of the drifting icebergs, and even himself seem to be straightening the liner at the rate at which it is easiest to hit the iceberg? What did he do if not to implement the "White Star" plan? Personally, it seems to me that it's for that, that's just ... The plan was completely different. But about that later. "Titanic" screw. However, the rooms do not appear in this photo.

Refute the theory of the conspiracy, which turned out to be quite difficult, especially as the "white star" climbed out of the skin to save its reputation, to save its reputation: information about the disaster, the witnesses of, distorted in every way Witnesses and so on. Indeed, the convincing arguments succeeded to find only after the discovery of the sunken liner (and it happened only after 70 years - the remains of the ship were discovered by the Robert Ballard expedition in September eighty fifth discovery. Of the participants in one of the expeditions rose So on the deceased ship, photographs of the oar screw were taken, on which the minted serial number "Titanic" is clearly visible - 401 (his older brother has exactly the 400th supporter of the conspiracy theory claim, however that Olympic his screw after a collision with the cruiser " Hawk "damaged it, and" White Star "replaced it with a screw from unfinished than" Titanic ".However, the number 401 is on other details of the sunken ship, so the accusation of planned disaster with white star line can be removed. The following theory looks like a lot more believable - we're going to talk about it now.

John Pierpont Morgan. Do you know, that ...

One of the arguments in favor of a conspiracy theory was the fact that industrial lor John Morgan, one of the owners of Titanic, floated aboard his ship, but a day before the ship's return from port canceled a ticket out of port.

And they say (so that the mystic began) that the magnate stepped up to drive one equipped for Nikola Tesla's foresight that funded Morgan's development.

Second version. Chase the blue ribbon

It all started a long time ago when a regular maritime embassy was set up between England and America, and it means that competition between shipowners was starting to bloom. The faster the ship crossed the Atlantic, that is, the greater popularity it used. In 1840, Kunard invented a prize for ships that had set a speed record: Now the ship crosses the Atlantic faster than any of its predecessors and received a "blue ribbon of the Atlantic" as a reward.

Actually there was no material price. The winner did not receive a monetary award, the captain did not have a memorable mug that could be placed in a prominent place in the cabin company. However, the ship acquired something more - priceless prestige that you will not add other means to. In addition to being honored in the circles of the sea (and its means and fame and popularity), the award winner received a contract to transport mail (including diplomatic) between America and Europe, and this is a very profitable item of shipping. And in general - see yourself: if you are a wealthy businessman, maybe even a millionaire, which ship do you prefer to travel on? Isn't it on the most prestigious and knowledgeable path?

At the time of the return of "Titanic" from Southampton "Blue Ribbon" belongs to "Mauretania" - a ship belonged to the main competitor "White Star". Of course, it was impossible to create, and White Star decided to bet on their favorite. Conquering the "blue ribbon" "Titanic" would be the triumph of this company, which allows you to remedy it with a shameful position: the cavalier of the ribbon, the entire Atlantic, as a rule, carried four times more passengers than other such ships.

However, due to the threat of collisions with floating ice, the mandatory route "Titanic" (and every other ship next to the same course) ran a small hook, but raised a small hook and climbed into a dangerous area of the sea where most of the icebergs drifts . Of course, this maneuver extends the road. So it may seem that Captain Smith led his ship straight to the iceberg booster - all he had to do was cut the path and for whatever means to get the "blue ribbon". So Titanic went on all pairs and did not reduce speed, even after receiving multiple radiograms from other vessels about ice danger. Let the other ships worry you - and there is nothing to be afraid of the Titanic. In the "Voroniem-Nest" - a special observation point on the front mast - there are two practical things that you can use the telephone to inform you about to the captain's bridge in case of danger: "Titanic" is equipped with the last word technology. And if there is a collision and will, that is, that means that the record will be set another time. There are no dangers to the Eisbergi - after all, it is known that "Titanic" has not been replaced at all. Its hold is divided into sixteen watertight compartments, if suddenly it receives a hole (of course not), then only one of the compartments will be filled with water, and the vessel will safely continue. The one - the liner does not pick up, even if four compartments are filled! And such damage can only come in war.

Well, not in vain pride - one of mortal sins. She played a sick joke with the Titanic: Iceberg damaged five compartments - one more than was allowed. Raised from the lower part of the Titanic

But how was the ice to break the steel of the ship's sheep? In the mid-nineties, a piece of "Titanic" trim was lifted from the surface and subjected to a fragility test: a sheet of metal fixed in the clips was supposed to withstand a pendulum that had stopped for thirty times. For comparison, a piece of steel used in shipbuilding was also tested. Before the experiment, both samples were placed in an alcoholic bath at a temperature slightly higher than that - this was exactly the sea water on that fatal night. Modern metal came out of the test with honor: under the blow of the hammer, it fell, but remained intact. Raised in two from the lower split. Maybe he became so fragile and laid eighty years at the bottom of the ocean? Researchers managed to get to Belfast Shipyard, where "Titanic" was built, the sample was taken over the years. Test for strength he moved no better than his guy. The conclusion from experts read: The steel used in the construction of "Titanic" was very low, with a large mixture of sulfur that made it fragile at low temperatures. Alas, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the involvement of metallurgy was far from today. If the liner of the liner were made of high quality steel, the hull would simply be caught on the inside of the blow and the tragedy would be avoided.

American press about the death of "Titanic" Do you know, that ...

On the Internet you will not only find western newspapers of the time (see photo on the right), but also the pre-revolutionary Russian publications that were reported in the Atlantic. A strange feeling occurs when you read these dry lines - for the people of the time "Titanic" has not yet become a legend ...

To the death of "Titanic".

London. The commission's busing on the distribution of the circulation of death "Titanic" was opened by the representative of the trade with the trade of Aizekov, who noted that the time of the release of his in the sea "Titanic" went at a speed of 21 knots in an hour, and that speed was not reduced until the moment the icy mountain collision was received despite the warning of moving ice. In the event of decomposition, there will be particular attention to the insufficient number of lifeboats on the ship and on the device with watertight bulkheads.

But the "spark" edition, as it should be "artistic and literary magazine", describes the situation in the best traditions of the yellow press:

Third version. Fire on hold

September 20, 1987 French television told the world's sensational news: the cause of the death of Titanic, it turns out there was a fire that broke out in the thrill of the badly run liner, and not a collision with iceberg at all. Apparently, the supporters of the new hypothesis were ascertained that in one of the ship's coal repositories there was self-burning coal (which it indeed is possible to do), the fire on the entire strand stretching to steam boilers that exploded, which was why that was Ship and went down. And what about iceberg - so it just turned out to be around so it was accused of dislocating the liner. One of the waterproof bulk goods "Titanic"

Yes, the fire on the "Titanic" was indeed - and this can no longer be guessed, but the factory was established. However, could it serve as a disaster? Oh, hardly. How do you imagine a fire in the coal bunker? The roaring flame that throws on the metal cladding of the walls of the eerie bedbugs, fantastic sailors with a naked toast, someone shakes the pump, and the jet of water disappears in the furious wall of the fire? I have to disappoint you - in fact, everything is much more prosaic. In general, the fire in the coal bunker of steamers of the time is very well known. The coal does not burn with such a fire, it does not burn, but a quiet smoke, sometimes within a few days. Fought with such fires in the simplest way, withered the Wende burned glowing coal in the ship's stoves. So the fire in the coal stop is a phenomenon, of course unpleasant, but as a rule there are no serious problems, the ship that is not alive has no serious problems. And certainly under no circumstances is it capable of producing such monstrous destruction that the fodder versions of the death of the "Titanic" feed on from the flame attribute to him from the flame context. Especially since the fire on the ship on the last flight was extinguished before the ship was released. The bunker was empty and the shipyard experts were investigating where the Titanic was. It seems that the most serious consequence of the fire was a slight deformation of one of the watertight bulkheads, which could not affect the fate of the liner.

Do you know, that ...

"Titanic" is one of the first, if not the first, ships in history to send the SOS signal.

At the beginning of the twentieth century the letters "CQD" were adopted as a sign of disaster - a reduction from "Come quickly, danger" ("closer to here, danger"). However, this signal was inconvenient in that it was also used to be alert to land via railroad crashes. In 1906, at the International Funktelgrau Conference, it was proposed to introduce a special signal for marine disasters. Then the letters known today were selected today - SOS. Contrary to popular belief, it is not an abbreviation like "saving our souls". Such letters were chosen simply because in the combination, in essence, Morzyanka is very easy to recognize: three dots, three hyphens, three dots.

The habit is second nature, however, and when the water crashes the CQD signal has continued to be used. His radioist "Titanic", a twenty-five year old John Philips: "CQD, here are our coordinates: 41.46 North 50.14 West. We need help immediately. Ton. Heard nothing because of the roar of the steam pipes." He repeated this message for the next quarter of an hour while his partner does not send a new disaster signal to the air, cynically joking: "Buddy, try to slaughter an SOS signal - no such opportunity is not introduced in our life." Phillips smiled sadly with a joke and at 12:45. April 15, 1912, one of the first in the history of SOS signals was sent from Titanic.

Fourth version of the German torpedo

German submarine times of the First World War

First of all, the collision with iceberg should not be in doubt. Also, don't forget that about the same minute "Titanic" broke in half. Level below), and that's dumb shit too. And why was the passenger liner locked in two years before the start of the war, would it be a passenger liner? It seems easy to be doubtful. And just speak - absurd.

Do you know, that ...

Before the shooting of the film "Titanic", directed by James Cameron, worked closely with the crew of the Russian scientific ship "Academician Mstislav Keldysh" and committed twelve dives with a filmmaker to the remains of the ship on Batiskopha "MIR-1" and "Mir-2" - you can be seen in documentary fragments of the film. On each dive, Cameron could only last fifteen minutes as only one such film felt in the chamber.

Five years later, Batiskof "MIR-1" and "MIR-2" are used to interfere with the sunken submarine Kursk.

Fifth version Curse of the Egyptian Mama

The very first horror about mom

Yes, yes, just imagine there is such a version! I made them special in the end.

In the 1880s, near Cairo, the beautifully preserved mummy of Amenhotep IV was discovered, named whether Amen-Ow or Amen-Ra or AMEN-OW or AMEN-RA or AMENNOPHIS (lovers of mysticism like you know, do not bother such little things. Mama and Mama). During his life, mom worked as a famous prisoner, and therefore after death a lavish funeral was awarded: with jewels, figures of the gods and, of course, magical amuls. Among them was a picture of Osiris, which was decorated with an inscription: "You passed out, and your gaze will crush everyone who stands in your way." Others, however, insisted that it was written, "Get out of the dust, and only the eyes of your eyes will get excited about every goat against you," but what, essentially, is the difference? If the third timidly suggested that nothing was written on the mummy, it was definitely clear that it was nonsense.

Mama was acquired by some collectors, then another, third and all previous owners of course died with the mysterious and mysterious circumstances. That is, perhaps in matter each of them lived ninety-nine years and soil in the arms of young beauty, but who will check? As everyone knows, MUMA holders are allowed to die, and preferably a permanent death.

Titanic ticket.

Eventually our mom acquired a certain American millionaire in the British Museum and sent to his American residence on board the ship. Well, guess which liner was chosen for this purpose?

The sarcophagus on the way served an ordinary box or a jar or a piece of wood (not, definitely, definitely) along the way, and it was kept around the captain's bridge.Mystics of all masters, they assure that the captain does not contradict Edward Smith before temptation, of course, and looked at this box with Mumia: they met their eyes and ... no, they did not make love; quite the opposite: a monstrous curse came true. Otherwise, judge for yourself how can you explain that the captain was in the head and he sent the "Titanic" with his own heavy hand to the right death?

Why did it believe that the captain's head is refreshed, and that he is sent his own hand "Titanic" to real death? Well, how could it not get into the head when it met her eyes with mom? As you can see, there is nothing to disagree with.

It's a shame mom died over a thousand years before Aristotle was born so she was close to logic. Otherwise, she would realize that the direct consequence of the ship ending the iceberg is the death of her fledgling, precious body in sea water, unlikely to hit more than a few days. And the destruction of the body is the worst that can happen to mom: your soul, there will be no place to come back. So if mom really had a magical power, it would be in his interests to protect "Titanic" as the sense of her magical eye. Or maybe she bought rhetoric about the indefinite ship for publicity and didn't watch out for dangerous icebergs.

Whatever it was, but Mama died in the ocean Puchin, disappeared unbalanced, and it cannot get her honest name; In this way, yellow presses are pregnant, regularly posting accusations for his address under the same headlines: "SENSATION!" Titanic "ruined the curse of pharaohs!". Leave it on the conscience of journalists.

Incidentally, mummy was not the only historical relic that died on board "Titanic". For art, much tragic death in the Atlantic of a real manuscript by Omar Khayama "Rubayyat" - relics, which was really no price.

Do you know, that ...

Immediately after the death of "Titanic", various projects were offered to raise the ship on the surface. One of them was an offer to fill the body liner with ping pong balls.

Oh yes there is another version

She is in the picture and there is nothing else:

Ex- "huge". What do you call the ship ... Do you know, that ...

Titanic not only had an older brother ("Olympic"), but also the younger one - "Giant". During the death of a middle brother in the Atlantic pile, the younger was still built on the versions. To make it a similar tragedy for him, the sophistication began to creep into their design - e.g. B. The number of lifeboats has been increased (you can see them in the photo on the upper deck on the upper deck). And the most unexpected thing about Adopted Mer. Safety was - what would you think? Name change. Recalling the ancient Greek myths that the fate of both titans and the giants wept a lot, the owners of the ship decided not to use the same rake and to reject the name "giants". Indeed what is hell not funny?

A new ship was ordered by Patriotisch: "British". What is characteristic does not help: The German submarine was swept from the ships.

This time. Captain "Titanic" Edward Smith

In those years, the captains of sea liner often passed dangerous areas without reducing speed: it was like moving the path to the red light: it seems, and you can't do that, but it always pops out.

The same iceberg is believed to be included in this photo.

Thomas Andrews.

So the collision happened. Iceberg damaged the fragile lining of the ship along the six right side compartments.

It should be said that on the "Titanic" traveled by Thomas Andrews, the talented designer who built this liner. Of course, after the tragedy there were people who accused him of the unsuccessful design of the ship. The allegations These are stripped of all foundation - Andrews and actually built the most perfect ship of its time. It was he who survived, having committed the crash, bound by the fact that without a little three o'clock they left the ship and moved at a safe distance.

After the accident, Captain Smith woke up Mr. Andrews and invited him to examine the bag in order to obtain an authoritative conclusion about the fate of the ship. The designer's judgment was disappointing: saving "Titanic" is impossible. It is urgent to start evacuating passengers.

And here we come to one of the most dramatic of circumstances. There were 2208 people on board a steamer (lucky that not 3500 for which it was calculated), there was only space in boats for 1178 people. Boat deck. Go healthy.

But why was there such a monstrous discrepancy between the lifeboats? At first the boats were more - thirty-five in total, but of fifteen of them it was decided to refuse. At first they might "cause a feeling of insecurity", but the main thing - they prevented them from walking on the deck of the first-class passengers, and this was quickly corrected: the motto of "Titanic" was "comfort above all" but how could I be released in a swim so ill-equipped with a wild truck? It's all in the outdated rules of the British Wear Code, adopted in 1894. Accordingly, the vessel of a certain amount was placed in accordance with a certain number of boats. Since the displacement of the largest passenger ships of the time has rarely exceeded 10,000 tons, all such ship giants have been grouped into a single category, with the recipe for them to have the number of boats sufficient to save 962 people. In 1894, they couldn't even imagine a ship similar to "Titanic" - with a tonnage in the total of 52,310 tons!

The owners of Titanic, praising the advantages of the new ship, stated that they even exceeded the instructions of the Code: instead of the 962 rescue locations on the ship, there were 1178. The inconsistency of this number with the number of passengers on board the value of the value , unfortunately, has not connected. Photo of a radio lady from "Titanic" by crucial photographer

At that moment, when colleagues from other vessels reported on floating ice, the radio station passed the next message to the continent. Radiocommunication was more of an expensive toy than a serious tool: a 24-hour clock from the radio station wasn't even established on the ships of that time. The radio scooter with the "Californian" that led the place to move went to bed in the evening and could not take a desperate emergency signal - SOS. If I managed to inform Californians about the collision, he could get to the rescue in less than an hour, and the "Titanic" was immersed for up to two and a half hours! It is said that from the side of "Californian" even the signal rockets sent into the night sky by a sinking liner do not give any values. Well, missiles and missiles. Probably, probably something big, celebrate with "Titanic". Won, the fireworks were arranged ...

But if the passengers were lucky, several ships still reacted to a disaster signal. Among them was "Olympic," the twin dive titanic, but before it was too far away - up to five hundred miles. The "Californian" steamer "Carpathia" was no closest to the drowning vessel, which was less than sixty miles away. After receiving the SOS signal, it changed course and rushed to the aid of the limit value reaction. About two hours past REMEIST "Carpathians" received the last message from the lining fear: "Go as fast as you can, the engine compartment will be flooded with boilers." No other radio signals came from the Superliner ... Survive the passengers of "Titanic" on board "Carpathian"

In the city center in the middle of the Atlantic he turned out to be seven hundred people. There is a jumping clock waiting for help. Some of the lifeboats were launched and picked up aboard the sinking all night, and some, on the contrary, sailed away from the scene of the tragedy, fearing that the people overboard who tried to escape may be able to overboard the boat switch.

At four o'clock in the morning, after four and a half hours after the collision of the "Titanic" with an ice receiver, and after two hours, like its fodder hidden in the sea depth, "Carpathians" came to the place of the tragedy and took up the redemption of survival. At eight thirty there were passengers on the last boat. 704 people lived. Searching in the water of the rest were useless. The lifejacket does not save at this temperature: A person dies from the cold in a few minutes.

Eight fifty "Carpathians" included ironic, ironic ones, whose shipping company "Kunard Line", whose Laurel wanted to pick up the "Titanic", won the blue hire, a course for New York.

On the night of September 1, 1985, the American French expedition, led by oceanologist Robert Ballard, discovered the titanic steam boiler at the bottom of the Atlantic. Soon the remains and the ship itself were discovered. This ended the long-term epidesus of the sunken steamship carried out by several independent researchers, but for a long time it has not been successful due to the wrong coordinates of the ship's death, which was carried over to the fateful night of 1912. The discovery of the Titanic continues to open a new page in its history: the answers were known to many controversial questions; A series of facts that were proven and not more irresistible than more irresistible than more unjustifiable.

The first intentions to find and lift the Titanic appeared immediately after the disaster. Families of several millionaires wanted to find the bodies of their dead relatives in order to properly bury them and discussed the issue of the rise of Titanic with one of the companies specializing in underwater rescue work. However, at that point there was no technical ability to implement such an operation. The plan was also discussed to reset the ocean floor charges of dynamite so that some bodies rose to the surface from the explosions, but also rejected for these intentions in the end.

A slew of crazy Titanic lifting projects were later developed. For example, it has been suggested to fill the ship's hull with ping-pong balls or to tell cylinders with helium what it will lift on the surface. There have been many other projects, mostly fantastic. However, before attempting to level the Titanic, it was necessary to find it first, and it was not that easy.

One of the most controversial issues in Titanic history has been transmitting long coordinates with a disaster signal. They were determined by the fourth assistant captain Joseph Boksholl using the coordinates calculated a few hours before the collision, speed and course of the ship. There was no time to check their time in this environment, and when the first serious attempts to search for Titanic were made in the 1980s, researchers faced a problem: Titanic was not in these coordinates, nor next to them. The situation was complicated and local disaster conditions - after all, the Titanic was at a depth of almost 4 km and the appropriate equipment was required to search.

In the end, luck smiled at Robert Balloard, who stepped in was prepared for an expedition without a little 13 years. After almost two months of searches, when only 5 days remained to the end of the expedition, and the Ballard had already begun to doubt the success of the event, some strange shadows appeared on the monitor connected to the video camera on the descent of the deep-water device. It happened almost at one o'clock on the night of September 19, 1985, and it soon became clear that this was nothing like a wreck of some kind of ship. After a while, one of the steam boilers was discovered and the doubt that the debris belonged to the Titanic Left. The next day the front of the vessel body was discovered. A big surprise was the lack of a star: after the 1912 investigation, it was officially assumed that the ship sank completely.

The first expedition of the Ballard answered many questions and presented the world with a series of modern photos of the Titanic, but it did not go unexplained. A year later, Ballard went back to the Titanic, and that expedition already used ancestral deep-water device that could serve three people on the ocean floor. There was also a small robot that allowed exploration of the ship. This expedition made the clarity for many questions that remained open by 1912, and after it the Ballard no longer wanted to return to the Titanic. But that didn't make the Ballard, they soon let other and new expeditions stretch out onto the Titanic. Some of them carried a purely research mark, some with the aim of lifting from the bottom in various items, including and for sale at auctions that caused many scandals over the moral and ethical side of the problem. James Cameron got back on the Titanic repeatedly; not only to ride his 1997 film, but also for the exploration with robotics in the vessel (see documentary "Spirits of the Abyss: Titanic"), thanks to which there were many new facts about the condition of the ship and its once magnificent finish.

As for the question of raising the Titanic, it became clear to Ballard after expeditions that this process would not simply be archaic and expensive; The hull of the ship has long been in such a state that it is simply crushed into pieces, if not during lifting, then on the surface.

1. Let's see what the Titanic looks like now and what it was looking at. Titanic sank in the Atlantic at a depth of nearly 4 km. During the dive under the water, the vessel broke in two parts, which are now six hundred meters from each other on the underside. There are many fragments and items around her, including and a fairly large chunk of the Titanic Fall.

2. Model of the nose part. The nose in the fall of the jar on the ground, very well burned in Il, which was very disappointed by the first explorers, because the place of the impact of the iceberg was inspected without special techniques was impossible. The cracked hole in the case visible on the layout was formed from the underside of the floor.

3. Panorama of the nose part, assembled from several hundred pictures. Right to left: directly above the edge of the nose is a replacement anchoring winch, there is a locking device behind it, immediately behind it is an open hatch in Tel No. 1, from which we diverge to the boards of the blow line. There is a sod water mast on the interstratic deck, underneath there are two more hatches in the postures and winches to work with the cargo. At the front of the main tower it used to be the captain's bridge that collapsed down during the fall and is now just guessing on separate details. The bridge has a superstructure with cabins for officers, captain, radio, etc., which crosses the crack on the site of the deformation seams. The gaping hole in the superstructure is a place for the first smoke tube. Another hole can be seen immediately behind the add-on - this is a well where the front stairs are located. Lacke is something very torn - there was a second trumpet.
