What is polarization of light

Light represents an electromagnetic wave that oscillates transversely to the direction of propagation. Oscillations in all spatial directions are possible perpendicular to the direction of propagation.

 

Unpolarized light
consists of a superposition of waves that swing in all directions.

 

Polarized light
however, consists only of waves that all vibrate in the same plane.
