What are expat-friendly cities in China

Basel inner city blog

Peter Strub emails:
D “Brüggli” are back in action ... or there is a beginning in each end (from Hermann Hesse, I think).

The sounding hammers of the pavers (with Mälcherstüehli) now make the sound on the mountain….

The Bräuning flower shop is once again working hard:

and a bike courier is just making his mountain prize.

But wait, that was the wrong picture.
That was meant:

The freshly laid "sanded"

are then later "flamed" to make the surfaces non-slip. So quasi “Rhywagge flambées”.
And who knows what that is? This “hunger” tag was applied to the Spalenberg at the Hotel Basel today ... who is behind it?

Now the curbs of the Spalenberg have started. The curbs are just being sanded: Wacken (or wagons like Waggis?) Are cut in half and the intersection is neatly processed. So it doesn't get as flat on the floor as on the perfectly flat ground Münsterplatz terrazzo (which apparently not everyone likes ...), but a bit more uneven. But only a little. You can see what it really is like on Augustingergasse. However, there are also stones laid there that were flamed - to make them a little rougher again. Is it [called.

Here are the supplies (covered more securely over the weekend):

and this is how they look:

My informant says that they only grind so beautifully in China.
But this is another fairy tale from Chinatown here (the picture shows the preparations on June 2nd):

Well then, on September 22nd, we suggested that we just give signposts a try, and we can see light at the end of the gutters:

It is easy for good ideas in Basel.

We don't want to find out that urinating in the wild is overly preoccupying us. But you associate this with that and you get the idea of whether you could combine a bollard and a urinal. If that thing were there on the right

submersible, we would kill all the flies at once. Dolen may not only have it here.
Also note the particularly beautifully designed collecting basin with this urinal. "Form follows bodily function" says the Canadian.

Speaking of shapely: all over the world designers have broken everything possible to find the right shape for such systems. Street furniture at its finest: On this panpipe, something from the score of the public space could be played (read for yourself):

If you compare previous attempts at design (here a Paris Vespasienne from Wikipedia),

you can see the progress immediately.

Now and then a pungent smell of the alley hangs over the inner city. Especially when there were triumphs to celebrate, and one cannot wish that enough for us in bitter times, the barley juice flows down our throats and unfortunately does not stay there. Even before Euro 08, many championship celebrations and larger occasions, the neighborhood association pointed out that there were too many crowds in the supposedly so inanimate city brainHas urinary bladders that are emptied on front doors, walls and small walls. Not only athletic eliminations, however.

Toi toi toi our Ayuntamento said from time to time and also set up portable houses. The neighborhood association, however, (thanks to Emanuel) has put into circulation an adhesive plaque that is extremely meaningful in terms of signals, semioticism and symbolism. It says more than a thousand words and, in a memorable variation of the prohibition, shows the famous Schlüsselberger Brunnenmacher, who is very focused and radiant in his actions.
The sender's statement, which is understandable for English-speaking Uriban people: THE INNERCITY RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION, is very expat-friendly and therefore in line with city and location marketing.

Now, thankfully, the liberal Grand Council comes up
Heiner Vischer and calls for remedial action. That found a wide response in BaZ and BaZ-Online
and is illustrated on bazonline as follows: (It would cost 100 francs. Not the picture, the busses.).

Just close to reality.
The public teeing off is an old Basel topic that has already preoccupied one or the other artist in a group:

Basel ships. We stinggts ...

But if it were true that there are even more water tees in our small town than in other metropolises, their deplorable inadequate use does not necessarily have to be due to the fact that today's urine drainers and gullies are no longer decent. Rather, the majority of them come from outlying quarters and places even further away and cannot even find the cleverly hidden public places.

We therefore recommend simply putting up toilet signs that show the way to relief. Or to do something with the dolens. Our favorite.

It took a long time, now there is still the finishing touches on the island of the Dolen.

First the preparations:

Then the result posted on September 20, 2011

Today, Saturday on the mountain .... Street music at its best: Volker Biesenbender, the gifted violinist and foster son of Yehudi Menuhins, performed folk music with his trio. Unfortunately, they soon had to leave the field because of AnneSchwarz's fashion show ... Commerce takes precedence over culture!
As early as the 1970s, Biesenbender was seen and heard more often in Basel as a street musician; nice that he stopped by with us again. The passers-by were very impressed by the music and gave spontaneous applause until a monotonous voice from the loudspeaker put an end to the magic and the models touted the latest autumn fashion. It is a shame, the two activities could have been combined, Volker would be safe for such experiments ...

No, it doesn't look like that anymore. The ground has now been gently tamped down again and everything is completely smooth, the last surface will soon come. First more against the Heuberg and then up to the Lyss. Then the compressors start up again because you have to sink the - dolen or manhole cover. The best construction professionals we know assure us that this is inevitable. The flat sanded strips will be placed until October.
And when everything is bonetti upstairs, it starts again further downstairs.
What exactly is planned is in the new
