Prefer Xbox or PlayStation

Developers prefer the PC and the PlayStation 5 and show little interest in Stadia and PlayStation Now

According to the latest GDC survey, the PC is still the platform of choice for most developers: an impressive 58 percent stated that they are currently mainly interested in the PC, followed by 44 percent for the Sony PlayStation 5, 38 percent for the Nintendo Switch ( about 330 euros on Amazon) and only 30 percent for the Xbox Series X | S.

Interest in the Xbox One and PS4 has already fallen to 13 percent and 12 percent respectively - so there are currently just as many developers interested in developing games for macOS as they are for the PlayStation 4. In the last place are Google Stadia with 6 Percent and PlayStation Now with 4 percent. If you look at the projects that developers are currently working on, the breakdown is somewhat different.

Although 58 percent are currently working on a game that will be released for the PC, iOS and Android are in second and third place with 32 and 31 percent, respectively, followed by the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X | S with 27 percent and 24 percent respectively, the PS4 and Xbox One are only slightly behind with 22 and 21 percent respectively. The Nintendo Switch falls just behind the Mac with 17 percent, while the game streaming services also land in the last place on this question.

Steam remains the king of stores on the PC, because 47 percent of all developers state that they achieve more than half of their sales through the top dog - only 6 percent of those surveyed could say the same about the Epic Games Store, with this GOG and the Humble Store has already overtaken it in terms of its economic importance. 24 percent of all developers stated that they worked more than 45 hours a week on average.
